TOM CHEETHAM
SEMINAR | ‘TOWARDS A CHART OF THE IMAGINAL’ REVISITED
Drawing from Henry Corbin’s 1977 paper “Towards a Chart of the Imaginal,” as starting point and touchstone, this seminar takes participants on an intellectual journey between multiple worlds at the intersection of science, poetry and imagination.
Cheetham examines how consciousness shifts between activities like physics and poetry, the mutability of experience and the relationship between imagination and reality. He discusses the influence of Corbin's work in his exploration of philosophical and metaphysical themes, touching on diverse topics such as Iranian art, religion, and the paranormal. — So, brace yourself for turbulence in this heady blend of theory, biography and fever dream.
