BILL BARTLETT
WORKSHOP | SACRED GEOMETRY BEACH MANDALAS
This immersive approach to beach art involves the practice of drawing within the coastal landscape, working with the tide, light and weather. Bartlett highlights the significance of this environment in Jung’s intellectual development a century ago.
This short film of the conference workshop offers glimpses of the creation of large-scale sand mandalas, blending practice with theory and history. Participants use simple tools to form circles and geometric patterns, exploring the ephemeral nature of the mandalas, as tides eventually erase the work. Bartlett explains “I believe there's immense value in exploring the unconscious mind through the simple act of drawing on the beach”.
